Teaching Background

Playing in orchestras and string quartets in her youth gave Ms. Olivia opportunities to lead sectionals and teach younger students while she was a teenager. Her first official experience teaching was as a teachers assistant in MYSO’s (Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra) Progressions program.

Ms Quintanilla studied cello pedagogy and one-on-one music instruction at Lawrence University. Her focus on beginning violin and cello technique -the first three years. Cello students in middle school or high school are also gladly accepted. In addition to classical technique and pieces, Ms. Quintanilla also offers lessons of non-classical lessons in fiddle, chord reading and improvisation.

Why are Private Lessons so Important?

Individual lessons can offer students to learn at a pace right for them that can not always be obtained in a classroom environment. This may be taking more time going over new concepts, or moving faster through material. Having a background in language literacy has given a new lens towards Music literacy. Students who have learning disabilities or currently being tested for learning disabilities may find individual lessons beneficial and less pressure than comparing their success to their peers.

*City of Lakes Waldorf School students are offered a discount lesson price.
